Job summary

Rolls-Royce SMR is seeking a Lead Engineer – Materials Analysis to provide technical leadership in developing materials analysis methods, tools and software for the Rolls-Royce SMR design. You will assess material performance, derive engineering data and evaluate degradation mechanisms while mentoring engineers and driving continuous improvement within the team.

The role requires a degree in Materials or Mechanical Engineering, strong materials science experience, and knowledge of analysis tools

Qualifications

  • Degree in Materials Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional registration or working towards it.
  • Strong materials science experience applied to engineering challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, validation and deployment of materials analysis tools and software.
  • Assess material behaviour and degradation, providing robust technical evidence.
  • Collaborate with design, structural analysis and integrity teams on complex challenges.
  • Provide technical leadership across materials analysis activities with governance adherence.
  • Represent Materials Analysis in multidisciplinary reviews and stakeholder discussions.
  • Coach and develop engineers to improve capability and quality.
