Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience in MRP, production planning, materials control, supply chain, or operational planning within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of production scheduling, demand planning, and material management.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems, ideally Epicor.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Be the Link Between Customer Demand and Operational Delivery

We are looking for a proactive and driven Material Requirements Planning Controller (MRPC) to play a critical role in translating customer demand into achievable production plans, ensuring the right materials, capacity, and priorities are in place to deliver exceptional customer performance.

Reporting to the Head of Sales & Operational Planning, you'll sit at the heart of our aerospace manufacturing operation, coordinating material planning, production schedules, capacity requirements, and delivery commitments across multiple stakeholders.

This is a highly visible role where you will act as the focal point between customer requirements and shop-floor execution, ensuring operational plans are realistic, achievable, and aligned to customer expectations.

The Opportunity

As an MRPC, you will own the planning process for your assigned customers and production cells, balancing demand, materials, capacity, and operational priorities to ensure delivery commitments are met.

Working closely with Production Managers, Procurement, Supply Chain, Stores, Quality, and Customers, you will identify risks, drive recovery actions, and maintain a relentless focus on delivery performance.

Success in this role means ensuring the right material is available in the right place, at the right time, with the right capacity to satisfy customer demand.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Demand Planning

• Translate customer requirements and forecast demand into actionable production plans.
• Manage customer schedules, demand changes, and priority adjustments.
• Ensure operational plans remain aligned to customer delivery commitments.
• Act as the primary planning contact for assigned customers and production areas.

Material Alignment

• Ensure materials, components, and sub-assemblies are available to support planned demand.
• Manage MRP activities and maintain accurate planning data within Epicor.
• Identify potential shortages and coordinate corrective actions before production is impacted.
• Work closely with Procurement and suppliers to expedite critical requirements.

Capacity Planning

• Balance customer demand against available manufacturing capacity.
• Collaborate with Production Managers to understand constraints and resource requirements.
• Support decision-making around priorities, workload balancing, and production sequencing.
• Escalate capacity issues and support the development of mitigation plans.

Production Planning

• Drive production schedules and priorities across assigned areas.
• Ensure work is released in line with customer requirements and operational capability.
• Monitor schedule adherence and proactively manage changes.
• Support daily production reviews and planning meetings.

Delivery Performance

• Take ownership of delivery performance within your assigned area.
• Drive improvements in:
  • On-Time Delivery (OTD)
  • Schedule Adherence
  • Material Availability
  • Arrears Reduction
• Develop and coordinate recovery plans when performance falls below target.
• Provide accurate status updates and delivery forecasts.

Risk Management

• Identify and manage risks relating to materials, capacity, supplier performance, and delivery schedules.
• Escalate issues quickly and drive actions to minimise customer impact.
• Support risk review activities and contingency planning.
• Maintain strong visibility of potential supply chain disruptions.

Customer Interface

• Act as the key link between customer demand and shop-floor execution.
• Support customer reviews, operational meetings, and programme discussions.
• Provide clear communication regarding delivery commitments, risks, and recovery plans.
• Build strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
