Job Description:

Do you want to be part of an organization that is on the leading edge of operations involving sortation, distribution, and logistics as Amazon delivers world class service to our customers? The Amazon EUSC Process Engineering (PE) Team is looking for a proven technical leader with extensive experience leading continuous improvement projects in applying planning and engineering principles to operations. This role involves developing and implementing process improvement initiatives within the logistics and distribution industry. As a PE, you will collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders including operations, network planning, labor planning, and service performance to design and enhance our Sort Centers' flow processes, challenging existing operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading UTR Flow continuous improvement, tech integration, and implementation.
  • Applying engineering principles to develop processes and improve operations.
  • Building strong relationships across organizations to support business goals.
  • Managing complex projects with quick turnaround times, demonstrating business judgment.
  • Tracking improvements and assessing opportunities for process transformation.
  • Partnering with process owners and stakeholders to define problems, scope projects, and structure teams.
  • Training and mentoring field operations teams to leverage tools and systems effectively.

Ideal candidates will be strategic thinkers, data-driven decision-makers, and effective communicators who can present to senior leadership and align initiatives with Amazon’s strategic objectives. Experience with data analysis, root cause analysis, and leading teams with analytical and quantitative skills is essential. Willingness to travel up to 30%. Role open to other UK locations.

Key job responsibilities:
  • Implement UTR Flow improvements and tech innovations to enhance efficiency.
  • Audit processes for compliance and address gaps.
  • Use feedback and data to drive process improvements at the site level.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and resolve flow process issues.
A day in the life:

This involves conducting observations and audits to identify process enhancements, recommending changes, and managing projects to implement new processes. You will be based at a site, influencing operational efficiency, and may analyze other sites as needed. You will also share ideas within the EU network, using data to drive continuous improvement and expand shipping capabilities.

About the team:

The Amazon Transportation Service (ATS) team plays a vital role in Amazon’s success, ensuring efficient transport using various modes and technology. The team uses data to inform decisions, prioritize safety, and innovate to improve package delivery.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • A degree in business, supply chain, transportation, economics, or a technical field.
  • Relevant experience in supply chain, transportation, project management, or management consulting.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and using Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
  • Proficiency in English.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MBA from an accredited university.
  • Management experience in logistics, distribution, or transportation operations.
  • Experience with automation and material handling solutions.
  • Familiarity with optimization tools (e.g., CPLEX, Gurobi) and simulation modeling (e.g., Flexsim, Arena).
  • Expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen techniques.
  • Experience with supporting tools like Minitab, JMP, MS Excel, and MS Access.
