Rachel Hill Resourcing is currently seeking a fabric cutting operative for a temp-to-perm role in Leighton Buzzard. The position offers £13 per hour, Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 16:30, on-site at Leighton Buzzard.

You will mark cutting lines, read orders, operate band saws and supporting tools, keep the workspace clean, and assist with inspection and traceability. Strong maths and the ability to read drawings are required, and teamwork is essential.

Responsabilités

• Mark cutting lines around patterns or templates.
• Read job orders to determine dimensions, cutting locations, and quantities to be cut.
• Cut material using fabric saws, knives, scissors, or other power tools.
• Trim excess material using knives, scissors, or other hand tools.
• Separate materials according to type, colour, or lot.
• Stack cut items according to job order.
• Notify management of product defects or discrepancies.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and return tools to racks.
• Read and interpret drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Set-up, adjust and operate band saw to cut foam parts to close tolerances.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Duties

• Mark cutting lines around patterns or templates; follow layout points using squares, rules, and straightedges
• Read job orders to determine dimensions, cutting locations, and quantities to be cut
• Cut material using fabric saws, knives, scissors, or other power tools
• Trim excess material using knives, scissors, or other hand tools, portable or power tools
• Separate materials according to type, colour, or lot
• Stack cut items according to job order
• Notify management of product defects such as spots, stains, snags, or unacceptable shape or finish
• Maintain work area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner; return tools to the designated tool rack
• Read and interpret work orders and process sheets to determine requirements
• Read and interpret drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances required
• Set-up, adjust and operate band saw to cut foam parts to close tolerances
• Notify management of product discrepancies and equipment malfunctions
• Perform cleaning and preventive maintenance tasks on machinery
• Ensure all paperwork remains with the parts/job for proper material identification and traceability
• Maintain work area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner; returning tools to designated tool racks
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within department
