Job summary

V3 Recruitment Ltd is assisting a Cosham-based manufacturing client to recruit a Material Controller. The role focuses on ensuring presses are ready, managing master samples, and keeping tooling and packaging in place to minimise downtime.

The candidate will support production with moulding machine matters and maintain accurate data in the system. Requirements include forklift experience, MS Office/Javelin, strong numeracy and literacy, and a proactive, reliable approach.

Responsibilities

• Ensure presses are ready to run to the required standard.
• Prepare master samples for setters and submit first offs to QC.
• Keep jigs/fixtures available for mould runs and maintain supply to minimise downtime.
• Ensure packaging/stillages are ready and available for mould runs and maintain steady supply.
• Assist production with moulding machine related matters as needed.
• Relocate finished product to Stores and update system accordingly.
• Complete press handover documents, print works orders on Javelin, and locate works orders correctly.
• Support daily Mouldshop plan and enter data for mouldings produced and scrapped.

Job description

Our client is looking for a Material Controller to work at a location in Cosham.

Key Responsibilities

• To ensure all presses are ready to run up to the standard required
• To be able to obtain master samples ready for the Setters for set the press and submit first offs to QC
• Ensure all jigs and fixtures are available and in place at the time of the mould run
• To ensure all packaging/stillages are ready and available for the start of the mould run – but also to maintain steady supply to minimise press downtime
• To assist production in any moulding machine related matters as necessary
• To relocate finished product to Stores and update the system accordingly
• Comply with operating disciplines, practices, procedures and documentation, to assure that machinery and equipment deliver quality product efficiently
• To be able to complete the press handover document, print works orders on Javelin and locate works orders correctly
• To support and understand the daily Mouldshop plan
• Able to enter accurately data onto our system for mouldings produced and scrapped
• Adhere and follow the work instructions
• To be able to print all barcode types for specific moulding jobs
• To be able to cover operator absence (including break cover)
• Keep tooling, presses and ancillary areas clean, tidy and organised in accordance with 5S methodology
• Operate Moulding machines as required
• To carry out stock checks or stock sorts when required
• Any other reasonable task as specified by the Moulding Dept. Manager or Setting Supervisor

Key Skills & Experience

• Effective time management skills working with tight timescales to meet production / manufacturing needs Experience
• Forklift, reach truck, WNA, counterbalance (requirement)
• Overhead crane licence (desirable/advantageous)
• PC literate – MS Office/Javelin (preferred, but will be trained if necessary)
• Strong numeracy and literacy skills
• Previous experience in a production/manufacturing environment
