Who we are:

SubSea Craft is a fast growing, privately-funded, UK-based innovative maritime technology company specialising in next-generation, high-performance watercraft and systems. We operate at the intersection of advanced engineering, cutting-edge design, and user-centric innovation, delivering safe, effective, and enabling solutions for both commercial and defence applications.

Role Overview

The Material Controller is responsible for managing the availability, visibility and control of hardware assets within the LN ERP system, ensuring that material is accurately transacted and made available to support test, trials, development and production activities across SubSea Craft.

The role provides dedicated planning focus for non-standard and evolving demand, balancing priorities between production, test, trials and development teams, raising demand on Procurement where required, and reducing the risk of material shortages, schedule disruption and unmanaged stock movements.

What we offer:
  • Annual Leave - Entitlement to 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Wellbeing Day - An additional Wellbeing Day each year to focus on personal health and wellbeing.
  • Private Healthcare - Access to comprehensive private healthcare coverage to support your physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Life Assurance and Critical Illness Cover - Comprehensive protection including Life Assurance (4x salary) and Critical Illness Cover for added financial security.
  • Family Leave - Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
  • Christmas Leave - A Christmas shutdown is typically observed.
  • Professional Development - Commitment to ongoing learning and career growth, supported by training programmes and access to LinkedIn Learning.
  • Pension Contribution - pension scheme with the option to contribute via salary sacrifice
  • Flexible Working - Opportunities for flexible working arrangements to promote work-life balance.
  • Inclusive Culture - A professional environment that values diversity, innovation, and collaboration.
Responsibilities will include:
  • Maintain accurate material, demand and stock visibility.
  • Plan, monitor and coordinate material availability for test, trials, development and production requirements, escalating risks where material availability may impact programme delivery.
  • Manage item master data and new part introduction processes, ensuring all material, planning, sourcing, and inventory attributes are correctly established.
  • Work with other departments to understand upcoming hardware requirements.
  • Manage conflicting material priorities.
  • Raise demand on Procurement where material is required but not available, ensuring requirements are clear, justified and aligned to programme or operational priorities.
  • Review bills of material, demand signals, stock records and open purchase orders to identify BOM errors, shortages, surplus, allocation conflicts and potential schedule risks.
  • Liaise with Procurement to support expediting, shortage resolution and prioritisation of critical materials required for test, trials, development and production activities.
  • Support production kitting and material readiness reviews.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Identify and escalate material risks, data quality issues and process gaps.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Ensure all material planning activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, procedures, governance and security requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Experience in material planning, production planning, supply chain, stores, inventory control or a similar role within a manufacturing, engineering or programme environment.
  • Experience using ERP or MRP systems, ideally Infor LN, managing demand, stock records, transactions, purchase order visibility and material availability.
  • Good understanding of bills of material, demand planning, stock control, kitting, shortages management and material allocation processes.
  • Ability to work with competing priorities and make clear, structured recommendations where material is constrained or demand is changing.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Experience in marine, defence, aerospace or complex engineering environments would be advantageous.
  • Relevant qualification in supply chain, logistics, production planning, business, engineering or equivalent experience would be desirable.

Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with UK National security clearance required for certain roles.*
