Job summary

Status Motor Group is seeking a skilled Master Mechanic to lead the workshop. You’ll diagnose faults, service and repair used cars, prep for MOT, and sign off retail-ready vehicles with pride. It’s a fast-paced hands-on role with real responsibility.

You’ll work on a range from city runabouts to prestige models, require NVQ Level 3, strong diagnostics, multi‑make experience, and your own tools. A full UK driving licence is essential and you’ll keep records and maintain workshop standards.

Qualifications

• Time-served / qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent experience).
• Strong diagnostic skills — confident with fault-finding, not just parts-swapping.
• Experience across multiple makes, including modern electronics.
• Own tools.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Methodical, honest and takes pride in the work.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults across a wide range of makes.
• Service, repair and prepare used cars to retail standard.
• Prep vehicles for MOT and rectify advisories/failures.
• Road-test cars before and after work to confirm the fix.

You’ll be preparing our used cars for sale — diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs and services, prepping for MOT, and signing cars off as retail-ready. We turn stock around quickly, so we need someone who is fast but thorough, works cleanly, and takes pride in never letting a car leave that they wouldn't put their own name to.

You’ll see everything from a city runabout to a prestige German saloon, so broad experience and confident diagnostics matter. This is a hands‑on role with genuine responsibility for what goes out on the forecourt.
