Job summary

Air Liquide UK is recruiting a Master Driver in Birmingham to lead driver training, safety initiatives and transport operations. You will assess training needs, validate trainer resources, and support onboarding and interviewing processes.

You will oversee driver qualifications, coach through on-the-job assessments using IVMS and tachograph data, and drive safety plans with strong regulatory compliance. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a driver trainer/instructor is essential.
• ADI qualification is desirable but not essential.
• HGV Licence with no points or convictions within the past 5 years.
• Clean driving licence free from RSE, endorsements, etc for past five years.
• Demonstrate good safety performance & compliance with regulations.
• Respect of drivers & road transport stakeholders.
• Experience developing training plans as part of C-IPM for driver teams.
• Competency in risk assessment and SOP development.
• Experience in incident investigations and root cause analysis techniques.
• Strong communication & group presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess training needs for driver teams.
• Validate competencies of driver trainer resources (DTIs).
• Support the operations team through driver interviews and onboarding.
• Schedule, track and conduct on-the-job observations and BVSs to monitor performance.
• Oversee driver qualification process; coach during on-the-job assessments using IVMS, tachograph and fatigue/distraction systems.
• Provide regular feedback to stakeholders across the operation.
• Develop and implement safety plans aligned with objectives.
• Lead investigations and determine corrective actions.
• Assist with assessing customer delivery points to identify issues and implement solutions.
