Role Summary

We have a fantastic opportunity to join Clarksons’ Digital Transformation team in London.

As part of the Digital Transformation team, you will be helping us build the best shipping data platform, reporting, enabling us to provide accurate and timely insights to the business and our clients. We are now looking for an individual to help us scale our data governance initiative as we scale our platforms and accelerate their roll out across the business.

You will gain exposure to the commercial side of the world’s shipping industry and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders from brokers, market analysts, data engineers, and application developers. This position would be ideal for someone who is eager to contribute to our data governance efforts.

What you’ll be doing

  • Ensure consistent and accurate data across the business.
  • Build and maintain Master Data Management Frameworks.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of data governance policies and standards.
  • Educate users on master data processes and business rules - training the business on MDM best practice.
  • Maintain and create documentation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define data standards and data classification criteria.
  • Complete data cleansing as needed.
  • Conduct data profiling to identify data quality improvement opportunities.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in data management technologies.

What we are looking for

  • A mathematic or other quantitative degree from a reputable university.
  • A strong understanding and passion for statistics and quantitative methods.
  • Familiarity with data quality management frameworks and techniques.
  • Understanding of master data management (MDM) concepts and tools.
  • Familiarity with data-related APIs and web services.
  • Experience in O365 applications, particularly familiarity with Excel.
  • Previous experience with Python (or similar programming language), SQL, Master Data Management software and Power BI is a plus but not necessary.
  • A passion for problem-solving and a desire to search for the truth.
  • An ability to connect the dots and understand how different pieces of a puzzle work together.
  • An aptitude for attention to detail and checking one’s work.
  • A collaborative minded individual that is willing to hear other’s arguments and change one’s mind to the best solution presented.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Experience working with Business and Technical teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to collaborate to gather requirements.
