About the Role

Take on a dynamic Mast Mechanical Design Lead role at the forefront of real-world demands in the defence industry. You will ensure operational excellence for existing products, develop next-generation radar products to counter emerging threats, and contribute to our technology strategy. Your day-to-day will be exciting and diverse, applying engineering principles across the entire development lifecycle to develop radar systems used by those who serve and protect us.

What You’ll Be Doing
  1. Provide expert knowledge in systems engineering, ISO 15288, and specialist mechanical engineering to develop or resolve complex shipborne structures with integrated sensor configurations.
  2. Provide technical and business leadership, potentially leading multiple engineering teams and managing associated costs.
  3. Analyze, define, evaluate, plan, and deliver solutions to meet programme, business, and customer requirements.
  4. Interface with customers, suppliers, and other functions, acting as an engineering ambassador.
  5. Assist in developing engineering capabilities and monitor professional development of engineers.
Your Skills and Experience
  • Subject matter expertise in Mechanical Engineering: Structures and Finite Element Analysis (particularly Static and Dynamic Shock and Vibration) or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to generate requirements and translate concepts into production-ready designs.
  • Relevant experience with CAD and Mechanical Engineering Analysis, Modelling, and Simulation tools.
  • Experience leading large-scale complex system designs.
  • Knowledge of the engineering lifecycle and models such as Waterfall and Agile.
  • Higher education in a relevant STEM discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.

The Radar Systems Engineering Team
