Job summary

Doncaster Council is seeking an experienced MASH Social Worker to join a fast-paced multi-agency safeguarding hub. You will assess contacts, gather information from police, health and education partners, and make timely threshold decisions to protect children and families.

The role emphasises analytical practice, professional judgement and collaborative working without carrying long-term caseloads. You will work with a skilled team and ensure voices of children inform all decisions, in line with

  • A qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience in Children's Social Care and child protection practice.
  • Skilled in assessment, analysis and professional judgement.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and screen contacts and safeguarding referrals.
  • Gather and analyse information from a range of partner agencies.
  • Identify risk and protective factors impacting children and families.
  • Make threshold decisions regarding Early Help, Child in Need, Child Protection and other statutory interventions.
  • Participate in strategy discussions and safeguarding decision-making.
  • Provide professional advice and consultation to partner agencies.
  • Produce concise, high-quality assessments and records.
  • Ensure the voice and lived experience of the child informs all decision-making.
  • Work within statutory guidance and local safeguarding procedures.

Salary details: Grade 9 £40,778 to £45,092 (pay award pending)
Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week

We are looking for experienced, passionate and motivated Social Workers to join our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), a fast-paced and dynamic service at the heart of safeguarding in Doncaster.

As a MASH Social Worker, you will be part of a highly skilled multi-agency team working alongside colleagues from Police, Health, Education, Probation and other partner agencies. Together, you will ensure that children and families receive the right response at the right time.

This is an excellent opportunity for a social worker who enjoys analytical practice, professional decision-making and collaborative working, without carrying a long-term caseload.

Duties Include

You Will Be
What you will bring to the role:
  • A qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Passionate about safeguarding children and improving outcomes.
  • Experienced in Children's Social Care and child protection practice.
  • Skilled in assessment, analysis and professional judgement.
  • Confident in applying thresholds and making evidence-based decisions.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and manage competing demands.
  • An excellent communicator with strong partnership-working skills.
  • Committed to high-quality recording and reflective practice.
  • Have good awareness of local policies and procedures
  • identify and highlight good practice, emerging research, case law and relevant policy changes with a focus on sharing skills and knowledge and promoting a consistent, good practice approach across the service.

Previous experience within MASH, Duty and Assessment, Safeguarding or Front Door Services is desirable but not essential.
