Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a Markets Operative for market sites across the Walsall Borough. This is a hands-on outdoor role requiring market setup, site maintenance and customer interaction. The position is 18 hours per week, across Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri and Sat, with early starts between 04:00 and 06:00.

You will need a full UK driving licence, your own vehicle, business insurance, and the right to work in the UK. The role offers a short-term contract with potential extension.

Qualifications

• Previous manual labour or physical work experience.
• Ability to undertake physically demanding duties.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Reliable and flexible approach to work.
• Experience using basic hand tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and dismantle market stalls.
• Move and position bins across market sites.
• Carry out litter picking and site cleaning duties.
• Maintain clean and safe market environments.
• Support the upkeep of market infrastructure.
• Clean stalls, compounds, bins, and communal areas.
• Carry out basic weeding and site maintenance.
• Spread grit and rock salt during adverse weather conditions.
• Assist traders and members of the public.
• Report issues to Team Leaders and Managers.
• Support the smooth running of market operations.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
