The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education is seeking a Marketing Operations Manager to oversee publications, review reports, web content and events delivering high-quality outputs.
Location: Remote first role with the opportunity to work flexibly from home, providing it is within the UK. There will be some travel within the UK, including to QAA events.
Job type: Full-time
Hours: 35 hours per week, with flexibility around how hours are worked.
Band: 5
Salary: £41,310 to £52,020 per annum, dependent upon knowledge, skills and experience, plus excellent benefits
QAA is the UK’s independent quality body for tertiary education. Our purpose is to ensure that students and learners experience the highest possible quality of education.
We are the UK’s authority on quality and standards, acting as custodian on behalf of the sector of reference points including the UK Quality Code for Higher Education, Subject Benchmark Statements, and the Frameworks for Higher Education Qualifications.
We work with governments, funding bodies and education providers across the UK and internationally to support and enhance quality and standards. In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, we work collaboratively with the sector to meet the needs of each nation. In England, our membership programme provides resources and support to strategic leads, quality specialists and students and learners alike.
Internationally, we are recognised as one of the world's leading quality bodies, supporting the reputation and reach of UK tertiary education through global partnerships and transnational education.
The Marketing Operations Manager is a new role at the centre of how QAA delivers its work to the sector. Our publications, review reports, web content and events are how providers, members and partners experience QAA, and their quality shapes our reputation. This role brings the operational delivery of all of them under one lead for the first time, turning QAA's strategic priorities into tangible outputs that are delivered to a high standard and measured for their impact.
We've created it because publications and events have a lot in common. Each depends on careful planning, coordination across teams, rigorous quality control and delivery to an agreed date. At any one time, you’ll have several of each in progress, many with fixed external deadlines. Managing them together gives us one clear view of what's coming and consistent standards across everything we put our name to. It also gives colleagues across QAA a single, trusted point of contact for getting their work produced and delivered well.
You'll lead a team of four specialists: a Website Editor, a Design Lead and two Network and Events Officers. We want a manager who sets clear priorities, gives people room to do their best work and develops their capability over time, so that high standards and reliable delivery become the way the team works.
Much of your influence will come through others. You'll agree timelines with delivery teams and senior colleagues, manage the dependencies between them and hold everyone to what's been agreed, including when that calls for a difficult conversation. You'll also lead DMC's work on review report publication and DEQAR, the European database of external quality assurance results, where accuracy matters to QAA's standing. Reporting to the Head of Digital, Marketing and Communications, you'll keep improving how we operate and help shape the way the wider DMC team works.
You're an experienced operations or production leader with a track record of delivering high-quality outputs to agreed timelines. You'll have led the production of publications or similar outputs and overseen events delivered through a team. Each has its own demands, but you'll see where they connect and how strong planning and quality control in one can strengthen the other.
Staying organised under pressure comes naturally to you. You’re confident running several complex workstreams at once across publications, web and events, and you thrive on a busy pipeline. You spot risks early enough to act on them and get the detail right where compliance and accessibility are at stake.
As a line manager, you're inclusive and supportive. People grow in confidence and capability in your team, and they know what good looks like because you set high standards and meet them yourself.
Strong relationships are central to this role, and you build them easily across an organisation. Your communication is clear at every level, and when plans are at risk you challenge constructively and bring people with you. You're always looking for ways to make processes work better, using data and reporting to guide your decisions. Experience of planning and delivering work through a project management tool would be an advantage.
We are a UK based remote first agency built on trust and flexibility, where we focus on outcomes rather than location. This supports strong delivery, collaboration and colleague wellbeing.
While most work is carried out remotely, there are occasional opportunities to come together in person for collaboration, engagement or specific activities where this adds value.
More information about the role can be found in the job description. If you would like more information in advance of applying please contact careers@qaa.ac.uk
