Job description

About Volter

AI and renewables are the 21st century's two largest megatrends, and they're colliding in the world's largest industry: energy. AI has made intelligence abundant, so human brains are no longer the bottleneck. Cheap and secure power is.

The people, businesses and countries that have access to cheap, clean and secure power will lead this century. Renewables can deliver it, but they've turned a previously static, predictable commodity into a huge, complex, changing forecasting and optimisation problem that the industry's decades-old systems were never built to solve.

Volter exists to solve it. We're building the first AI-native operating system for business energy, so that every business can run on power that's cheaper, cleaner and more secure. Octopus and Kraken did this for homes; we're doing it for business.

And it's working. We launched our platform in early 2026 and have already grown revenue 20x, with customers all across the UK now using the Volter platform. We're still a small team, so you'll shape the product, the tech and the culture from the ground up.

Where you plug in

Most businesses buy energy through brokers, so winning them over is how we reach thousands more customers. We're hiring our first Marketing Lead to take our brand to market. You come from a product marketing background, and you know how to turn a complex product into content and events people want to show up for.

Your core job is content and events, done really well. That means expert-led content that makes Volter the voice brokers and businesses trust, and webinars, roundtables and broker events that TPIs want to attend. That work then powers everything around it: the materials our sales team uses, and the programmes our partnerships team runs with brokers.

A year in, success looks like a clear marketing plan executed really well. Brokers and TPIs come to our events and webinars, our content is something people read and share, and Volter is becoming a name brokers recognise and recommend.

What you'll power
Content and thought leadership (your core)
  • Know the product, the energy market and our customers (brokers, businesses and generators) inside out.
  • Turn what our energy and AI experts know into sharp, useful content: guides, blogs, newsletters and LinkedIn posts.
  • Build Volter's voice in the market, and the profile of our founders and experts.
  • Own our positioning and messaging, so every piece we publish tells the same clear story.
Events and webinars (your core)
  • Run a regular programme of webinars, roundtables and broker events that brokers, businesses and generators want to attend.
  • Add real value in the room: presenting, moderating and talking to partners, not just organising.
  • Follow up well, so every event turns into relationships and pipeline for the commercial team.
What it enables
  • Sales enablement: turn your content into the broker packs, one-pagers, case studies and pitch materials our sales team uses every week.
  • Partnerships: work closely with our partnerships team, giving them the content, events and materials they need to win and grow broker relationships.

Alongside this, you'll own the marketing plan and budget, keep the brand consistent, and report on what's working using HubSpot.

What you'll bring
  • A product marketing background in B2B, ideally with a complex or technical product. You enjoy getting your head around how things really work.
  • A track record of content people actually read. You write it yourself and can turn expert, technical knowledge into something clear and useful.
  • You've run webinars, roundtables or events yourself, and you're confident presenting and talking to partners in the room.
  • You've created content and materials that sales teams or partners used to win deals.
  • You've built something from zero to one, whether as a first marketing hire, by launching a new programme, or by setting up a function from scratch.
  • You get stuck in and work things out for yourself, rather than bringing in an agency for everything. You make the most of a lean budget and use AI tools every day.
  • You use HubSpot (or a similar CRM) confidently for events, email and reporting. You don't need to have set it up.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience in energy, climate or another technical or regulated market (a real plus: you'll get up to speed much faster)
  • Experience marketing through partners or channels such as brokers, resellers or intermediaries
  • Contacts in the UK energy trade media
Your kind of energy

Here's what living the Volter values looks like in this role:

  • Integrity, trust and transparency: You only make claims we can back up, report results honestly (including the events that flopped), and treat broker relationships as long-term partnerships, not campaigns.
  • Growth, ambition and excellence: Every post, guide and event is something you'd be proud to put your name to. You measure what's working and keep raising the bar.
  • Getting sh*t done: You turn an idea into a live webinar in weeks, not quarters. You ship a good piece today rather than a perfect one next month.
  • Electric enthusiasm: You're the person who makes a roundtable feel like the place to be, and you get excited about making energy interesting.
  • Fun and humble: You're as happy stuffing goodie bags as presenting to founders. You give the experts the credit for the content and celebrate the commercial team's wins.
How we work

We're together in our Old Street office four days a week, because the best ideas and energy (!) still happen in the same room. You'll work directly with founders who've built and scaled businesses to multi-billion-dollar valuations.

The perks
  • Competitive salary and generous equity
  • Enhanced sick leave
  • 25 days' holiday, plus public holidays
From application to offer
  1. Intro call with our talent team (30–45 mins): getting to know you, and you getting to know us
  2. Interview with the hiring manager (30-45 mins)
  3. Case study: a take-home practical task based on the role, followed by an in-person interview at our Old Street office
  4. Founder interview (30 mins)
