General Purpose of Job:

The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for various marketing activities, events, and projects including but not limited to working with AVP/Marketing to determine story ideas for DCH publications and then coordinating publications, scheduling interviews, writing articles, reviewing and proofreading copy for accuracy and typos, and acquiring approvals; maintaining mail group listings for publications; researching, interviewing, and writing various promotional copy for collateral materials, writing ad copy as needed. Works with vendors to obtain quotes for print jobs, etc. Coordinating the hospital’s participation in various events that involve patients and families, employees, and/or the community-at-large (health fairs, trade shows, health promotion events, etc.). Serves as a backup to the Media and Public Relations Coordinator by coordinating yellow page and white page listings and updates, coordinating various hospital and community events from concept and communication to setup and takedown (public relations events with DCH patients and families, health fairs, walks, etc.). Prepares line item budget for all projects and then a final cost analysis, developing and maintaining relationships throughout the hospital to learn of story ideas to pitch to media. Writes news releases and pitches stories to media and coordinates on-site media coverage as needed. Assists with maintaining historical archives of media clippings. Takes media calls.

  • Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.

  • Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
  • Develops story ideas for DCH publications including Head-to-Toe, Physician Update, Driscoll Life, etc., schedules interviews, writes articles, and proofs stories for accuracy and typos, obtaining approvals on stories prior to printing.
  • Develops and maintains up-to-date mail lists ensuring that fulfillment houses utilize correct lists.
  • Researches/interviews and writes copy for collateral materials.
  • Coordinates DCH’s role in various events including activities and programs for patients and families, and community-at-large.
  • Assists the media/public relations function by writing news releases, pitching stories to media, and coordinating interviews and onsite media events.
  • Assists in maintaining current and historical media clippings.
  • Responds to media calls as necessary.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a healthcare marketing/public relations environment is desirable.
