We are now looking for a

Marketing and Communications Manager – ES&O

to join our team working for a better future.

The position is permanent and the preferred location is Fareham or London in the UK.

What you will be doing

The Marketing & Communications Manager for Wärtsilä Energy Storage & Optimisation (ES&O) in the Africa/Europe/UK (AFEU) region will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the marketing strategy for the global energy storage business. This individual will collaborate closely with regional leaders, product developers, and sales teams to develop comprehensive marketing initiatives that span the project and customer lifecycle.

As the Marketing & Communications Manager, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute regional marketing strategies that support Wärtsilä Energy Storage & Optimisation (ES&O)’s business goals, with a focus on the Africa, Europe, and UK (AFEU) markets.
  2. Partner with regional leaders, product developers, sales, and business development teams to align marketing initiatives with customer and project lifecycles.
  3. Craft clear, compelling messaging and value propositions that translate technical concepts into impactful communication for both internal and external audiences.
  4. Coordinate with internal teams and external agencies, including designers and writers, to produce high-quality marketing and communication assets.
  5. Drive brand visibility and thought leadership through integrated campaigns, product launches, and strategic communication programs in collaboration with ES&O Sales/Marketing and Energy Business communications teams.
  6. Leverage marketing and sales data to inform strategy, optimize campaigns, and support business development decisions.
  7. Manage multiple projects in parallel, ensuring timely delivery while adapting to shifting priorities and schedules.
  8. Apply your knowledge of event marketing best practices to support regional events and activations, ensuring alignment with broader marketing strategies.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA is a plus).
  2. 4-6+ years of experience in integrated B2B marketing, partnership marketing, and/or branding, with a focus on renewable energy or energy storage solutions.
  3. Proven experience in developing go-to-market and market-entry strategies, particularly in emerging or developing energy markets.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  5. Demonstrated success in managing multiple stakeholders across functions and geographies, and working effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  6. Experience collaborating with and managing external vendors, such as creative agencies and consultants.
  7. Familiarity with digital marketing tools and techniques, including performance measurement and analytics.
  8. A collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset, with a hands-on approach and the ability to adapt to dynamic priorities.
  9. A creative, energetic, and detail-oriented personality with a passion for clean energy and innovation.

(In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 20%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.)
