Job description

Who we are

Since 1843, The Economist Group has championed independence, excellence and openness, helping people understand and tackle the critical challenges shaping the world. Today, we are building on that legacy as a global media and information-services company powered by digital innovation, analytical rigour and evidence-based insight.

United by a shared purpose to drive progress, we empower decision-makers to make sense of change and chart a course through an increasingly complex world.

As a colleague, you will be part of a culture that values ideas, encourages ownership and holds itself to high standards. We invest in people who are curious, thoughtful and adaptable, whether they are launching new products, reporting on global events or harnessing emerging technologies such as AI to improve how we work. Here, fresh thinking is taken seriously, ambition is matched by integrity, and great work is recognised. We are an organisation that exists to drive progress. That's the "red thread" that connects everyone at The Economist Group (TEG). Our businesses share a devotion to innovation, independence and rigour in their fields of expertise. We empower people to understand and tackle the critical challenges and changes facing the world. Our analytical rigour, global expertise and evidence-based insights enable individuals and organisations to make sense of these shifts and chart a course through them.

Our story began in 1843, when a Scottish hat manufacturer founded The Economist newspaper to further the cause of free trade. Since then, we have evolved into a staunchly independent global media and information-services company that provides intelligent thinking for an international audience. We deliver our analysis and insights in many formats to subscribers and clients in 170 countries with four businesses, each of which upholds our global reputation for excellence and integrity.

With rigorous reporting, in-depth analysis and global perspective, we explain todays most important events and seek to discern the trends that will shape tomorrow. At the core of everything we do is our independence, underpinned by our editorial culture and governance structure.

The role:

The Marketing Campaigns Executive will work closely with the Head of Campaigns to support the work of The Economist Growth Marketing Team in various areas. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, stays cool under pressure and is motivated by setting high standards and striving to exceed them. This role demands a proactive approach, excellent communication and organisational skills, attention to detail, multitasking ability, and solution-oriented thinking.

Key responsibilities:

Marketing campaigns:

  • Maintain key campaign documentation, including campaign calendar and briefs, deliverables, media plans and wrap-up decks
  • Support and, in some cases, lead on the end-to-end delivery of global acquisition campaigns, including campaign briefing, timeline management, creative kick-offs, asset delivery and post-campaign reporting
  • Coordinate campaign planning across Growth, Creative, Retention and Optimisation teams, ensuring key stakeholders are aligned on requirements, deliverables and deadlines
  • Support campaign wrap-up reporting by coordinating results and key learnings to inform future campaign planning
  • Support external marketing partnerships and cross-promotional activity, coordinating stakeholders, creative assets, timelines and deliverables
  • Undertake special projects as directed by your manager, demonstrating the ability to handle complex tasks and solve problems independently, including miscellaneous requests from the marketing leadership team
  • Proactively researching and identifying solutions to improve current processes and workflows
  • Supporting the Head of Campaigns in day-to-day tasks, including coordinating with designers, writers, and other stakeholders to produce marketing materials and organising and maintaining digital assets and marketing collateral.

Team operations and administration:

  • Process, manage, and accurately code invoices from suppliers, including agencies and freelancers, using tools such as PeopleSoft and OneTrust.
  • Maintain the invoice tracking spreadsheet for the VP, Global Brand Marketing, ensuring spend, invoice status and relevant financial information are kept accurate and up to date
  • Be a go-to person for contracts with 3rd party suppliers and a liaison between the Marketing team and Legal and Procurement functions.
  • Coordinate supplier onboarding and support ongoing relationships with agencies, freelancers and other external partners
  • Independently manage in-house print advertising, newsletter and digital house ad workflows, including coordinating bookings, creative requirements, deadlines and producing monthly digital house-ad performance reports for Marketing leadership using Google Ad Manager data.
  • Maintain and improve operational workflows in Airtable, including developing automations and identifying opportunities to reduce manual work and improve visibility across teams

Additional responsibilities

  • Support marketing activations, events and partnership initiatives, including the coordination of creative materials, merchandise, suppliers and logistics
What we’re looking for:
  • Previous experience in marketing, media, and/or account management
  • Meticulous, proactive approach to problem-solving, accountable and result-driven
  • Collaborative and able to partner with team members across the marketing group and company, along with the ability to multitask, problem-solve, and efficiently manage time
  • Strong aptitude for learning new technologies. Proficiency in G-Suite, PeopleSoft and Airtable is a plus.
  • Ability to work at pace to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
  • Flexibility to work across different time zones and collaborate with international teams
