Weldmar Hospicecare's dynamic and innovative Marketing and Communications team is looking for a talented individual to play a key role in shaping the success of our income generation related communications, appeals, and campaigns.
With a commitment to our Core Values, you'll be working closely with colleagues in the Fundraising and Retail departments, helping to deliver impactful campaigns across a variety of digital and physical platforms.
You’ll need to be able to bring creativity to the role, have a good working knowledge of social media channels, and know how to reach the appropriate audience for each project. As well as excellent written and verbal communication skills, you'll need good computer skills too, and know your way around Microsoft Office and Canva.
Experience of working within a Marketing and Communications environment is a must, with a track record in helping to deliver impactful and creative campaigns. This role offers genuine purpose, contributing directly to the charity's income generation streams, enabling Weldmar to continue providing outstanding care and support for local adults with a life-limiting illness, and their loved ones.
An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role.

About Weldmar Hospicecare: Rated Outstanding by the CQC, Weldmar Hospicecare provides specialist care to adults in Dorset with a life-limiting illness, and support to their loved ones. This care is given in the comfort of patients' own homes, in the community, and at our Inpatient Unit in Dorchester. All care is provided free of charge and mainly funded by the continued support of our local community, via fundraising initiatives and events, our retail chain, and gifts left in wills, enabling us to raise the £27,500 we need every day to keep our services going.
Job responsibilities
Job Purpose
To work alongside both Fundraising and Retail departments at Weldmar Hospicecare to plan and execute various promotions and campaigns, in order to maximise income generation opportunities and awareness.
You will work as part of the overall Marketing and Communications Department at Weldmar Hospicecare but primarily contribute to the goals of income generation departments.
Scope and Limits of Authority
Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Lead, the Marketing and Projects Officer is responsible for helping to plan, coordinate and deliver targeted specific promotions and campaigns for Fundraising and Retail operations.
The postholder will work as part of the Marketing and Communications team on both internal and external marketing projects. This may include, but are not limited to, promotions across our retail stores, Weldmar's own fundraising events and initiatives, opportunities linking to national or local awareness campaigns, and charity-wide messaging as part of the overall Marketing and Communications Strategy.
The postholder will be required to be self-motivated and driven by the aims and objectives of Weldmar Hospicecare, with the ability to work to deadlines, and collaborate with colleagues across the charity.
The Marketing and Projects Officer is a key member of the Marketing and Communications Steering Group.
Job tasks
Responsibilities will include but not be restricted to:
Internally
- Assist with the concept, design and delivery of cost-effective campaigns and promotions, providing the most impactful return on investment.
- Follow the use of sound branding guidelines across all promotions and campaigns.
- Be involved in delivering internal and external specific campaigns or awareness activities throughout the year, working alongside your marketing colleagues, supporting the aims and objectives of the Fundraising and Retail departments.
- Contributing to projects across the wider charity if required.
Externally
- Assist with delivering impactful campaigns (incorporating visuals, social media and website content, and press release copy), as set out by the Marketing and Communications Strategy, to ensure that Weldmar Hospicecare is seen as the charity of choice; to shop or donate goods, to financially support, or volunteer for.
- Work with the wider Marketing and Communications team to help create public facing campaigns and promotions to engage, educate and increase exposure of Weldmar's retail services and range of fundraising opportunities.
- Support the Fundraising department with impactful event or activity launches, and multi-platform campaigns to raise awareness and exposure for fundraising products.
- Support the retail team with eye-catching and customer-related promotions such as clearance events, gift aid acquisition and retention, volunteering, and other opportunities.
- Work onsite at key events, such as charity or fundraising events, as part of the wider Marketing and Communications team.
Platforms
- Work alongside colleagues to identify, advise and take advantage of the appropriate platforms for each marketing campaign or promotional activity.
- Contribute towards the overall Marketing and Communications Strategy for the organisation.
- Use individual platforms and methods of communication appropriately.
- Ensure the delivery of all promotions or campaigns are in line with the charity brand guidelines.
- Review and assess the effectiveness of promotions and campaigns throughout; adjust as necessary to maximise best results, and utilise learnings for future campaigns.

Qualifications
- A proven track record of creativity and promotion/campaign delivery for other businesses, charities or organisations with examples of previous creative achievements.
- Knowledge of various marketing platforms including digital, local and unconventional.
- Understands the work of Weldmar Hospicecare and able to represent the organisation both internally and externally when required.
- Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and Canva.
Experience
- Experience of working in a marketing environment, producing high quality and accurate work with short timescales.
- Previous experience of delivering campaigns or promotions for a charity, business or organisation to deliver key results in a short timescale.
- Proven experience of being able to work both as an individual and contribute to the goals of the overall team.
