Marketing and Events Assistant

Established for over 70 years, Gatwick Diamond Business (gdb) has been the leading voice for business and commerce in the Gatwick Diamond.
We are an independent membership organisation serving the Gatwick Diamond Business Community. As a ‘not for profit’, we are owned and run by our members for our members. Our mission is to help Gatwick Diamond businesses achieve their ambitions by being part of a thriving business community – better connected, supported, promoted and informed.


Main Purpose:
The Marketing and Events Assistant will provide essential administrative support in the planning, organisation, and execution of events and marketing activities, and would suit someone with a keen interest in digital platforms and a creative flair. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the events program and contributing to the overall success of marketing initiatives aimed at enhancing member engagement and satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities include:

  • Marketing Support
  • Keep the gdb website updated with accurate and timely content
  • Manage the news feed on the website, create and circulate the monthly email newsletter
  • Assist in coordinating marketing campaigns and PR activity
  • Support with creating social media content to promote membership and events
  • Drive the design of our bi-monthly Diamond Magazine, upload to the website and distribute to contact.
  • Events Support & Administration
  • Upload events to Eventbrite and our internal systems
  • Provide admin support for flagship events such as the Gatwick Diamond Business Awards and Re-Energise Conference
  • Attend events where required, engaging with members and guests
  • Prepare event materials including delegate lists, name badges, and presentations
  • Help ensure event compliance with Health & Safety, insurance, and GDPR requirements
  • Contribute to post-event evaluations by collecting and reporting attendee feedback
  • Perform other tasks as required to support the the Marketing & Events Manager and wider team

Preferred Skills & Requirements

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks
  • Clear, confident communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and social media platforms
  • A team player with a flexible approach and a willingness to get stuck in
  • Experience using Canva or similar design programmes an advantage

Terms of Employment:
You will be based at our Crawley office but will need to travel to attend networking and other activities across the Gatwick Diamond. You will work standard office hours with 20 days’ holiday (plus bank holidays) rising each year to a maximum of 25 days.
