Job Description

Responsibilities:

1. Implement and utilise risk models and tools for the Market Risk team, including analysis of market liquidity, prices, volatilities, and correlations. Support development and adoption of these models across business teams.
2. Perform regular and bespoke risk analyses on the company's portfolio, including wholesale market instruments, exposures, P&L, scenarios, stresses, and VaR.
3. Review and propose metrics and limits to control exposures, positions, and risks, including commodities like power, gas, and certificates.
4. Develop market risk proposals, support stakeholder engagement, and update risk policies accordingly.
5. Backtest models, tools, and controls, and propose improvements.
6. Facilitate operational readiness for onboarding new business activities and associated risks.
7. Provide opinions and recommendations on risk topics to the team and business.

Experience:

1. Numerate degree (Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, or Finance).
2. Minimum two years’ experience in the energy sector in risk, pricing, or analytics roles.
3. Experience in risk analysis using Excel or similar applications, including pricing, market liquidity, portfolio positions, volatility, correlations, P&L, VaR, etc.
4. Exposure to ETRM systems and trading databases.
5. Experience in reviewing and updating controls and limits related to positions and P&L.
6. Proven ability to support project planning and stakeholder engagement.
7. Strong Excel skills and programming ability in Python, SQL, R, or VBA.
