Market Director (Water/Wastewater)

Location: London, Derby, or Glasgow

Type: Permanent, Office/Home Hybrid Working

To further establish COWI as a customer-centric company, we are seeking a Market Director to join our Water/Wastewater team in the UK and Ireland. Reporting directly to the Senior Market Director, you will be an integral part of the business development team specializing in the Water/Wastewater sector. Your role involves strategically developing customer and partner relationships and delivering growth targets.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Growing business development activities in the Water/Wastewater sector across the UK and Ireland.
  2. Identifying leads and suitable partners for tendering within the sector.
  3. Updating the UK Pipeline for focus areas and implementing the ‘Go/No/Go’ process.
  4. Coordinating capture and bid processes with technical staff and bid support teams.
  5. Developing and executing bid-winning strategies, including commercial offerings.
  6. Maintaining customer focus and continuity through delivery, including frameworks and framework management.
  7. Participating in COWI UK's market leadership team.
  8. Building and maintaining effective networks with clients and partners, including key account management.
  9. Contributing to strategies and action plans for business growth.
  10. Identifying technical development areas and conveying these to management.
  11. Liaising with sector leads across the UK business, sharing market and customer insights.

Additionally, you will have:

  • Chartered Engineer status within the Water/Wastewater sector.
  • A background in Water/Wastewater design engineering, working within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong technical expertise in the Water/Wastewater sector and experience in work-winning leadership.
  • Business development or framework management experience relevant to the sector.
  • An established network within the UK and Ireland's Water sector, including clients, contractors, and partners.
  • Experience developing major proposals and market initiatives.
  • Experience delivering water and wastewater projects from concept to handover.
  • Knowledge of legal, contractual, and financial issues in the sector.
  • Relationship-building skills based on trust.
  • Experience in coastal protection and marine works (advantageous).
