Job description

Market Data Analyst Join ING’s Market Data Analytics Team and help build the market data centre of excellence within Traded Risk Management. You'll work across sourcing, transformations, models, proxies and analytics tools that support market risk, product control and counterparty credit risk.

MDAT sits within Traded Risk Management (TRM), a department of approximately 60 colleagues supporting a broad range of businesses across Financial Markets and Group Treasury. MDAT is responsible for the market data used by TRM, including data supporting market risk, product control and counterparty credit risk. The team manages market data sourcing, transformation, models and proxies, and develops dashboards and data analytics tools to improve quality, insight and control across the full market data lifecycle.

Roles and responsibilities
  • Developing and maintaining derived market data and proxy models across multiple asset classes.
  • Analysing large market data sets, processes and technology systems to identify issues, opportunities and improvements.
  • Coordinating and implementing market data requirements for market risk initiatives, regulatory change and strategic data programmes.
  • Acting as a point of contact for market data queries from stakeholders including Trading, Risk and Model Validation.
  • Collaborating with global teams across requirements, architecture, implementation, testing and release management.
  • Partnering with TRM teams to understand, prioritise and deliver market data requirements.
  • Coordinating agile delivery with IT developers and system support teams to maintain high market data quality standards for TRM.
  • Working with Model Validation to address and close market data-related findings.
  • Completing daily market data validation and reporting in line with the Market Data Replacement & Proxy Policy.
How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you'll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we'll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

To succeed in this role, you will bring
  • A strong academic background, including a graduate degree of at least UK 2:1 level (or equivalent) in finance or another quantitative subject from a reputable institution.
  • 1-years of experience in a Market Risk or Product Control function within a large, internationally active financial institution.
  • Hands-on experience analysing and visualising large market data sets, ideally with working knowledge of SQL and Python.
  • A good quantitative understanding of multiple asset classes, their risks and pricing, plus familiarity with market risk metrics such as VaR, HVaR and IRC.
  • Strong delivery focus, quantitative problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently under tight timelines.
  • Clear communication skills, fluency in English, and a collaborative, organised and detail-oriented approach.
  • It would be great if you also have a professional qualification such as PRM or FRM; a statistical or mathematical background; experience with financial markets policies, guidelines and regulations; and/or experience with systems such as Summit, Murex, Reuters or ActivePivot.
Rewards and benefits
  • Comprehensive health cover, including private medical, dental, vision, health screening and in-person GP appointments.
  • Generous pension scheme and financial protection, including life assurance, income protection, access to pension guidance and will writing services, and an interest-free season ticket loan.
  • Hybrid working and flexibility to work remotely for up to 30 days abroad.
  • Generous annual leave, with the option to purchase additional days and time off for key life events.
  • Wellbeing and family support, including an Employee Assistance Programme, back-up child and elder care, enhanced family leave policies and support coaching for new parents.
  • Lifestyle benefits such as electric vehicle and cycle to work schemes, an on-site gym and access to on-site staff restaurant and barista coffee facilities.
  • Opportunities for personal and professional growth through mentoring, learning, short-term assignments and international career development.
  • Opportunities to build strong connections through volunteering, employee forums and social clubs.
