ICBC Standard Bank is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Market Data Manager to join our Risk department in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the market data used by both Market Risk, Credit Risk & Prodcut Control teams, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of this data. This role will oversee a team of three direct reports and will require a deep understanding of market data processes and systems

What you'll be doing

  • Manage and maintain market data used by Market Risk and Credit Risk (such as historical time series data used in calculation of Value-at-Risk or Potential Future Exposures), and by Product Control for use in independent price verification (IPV).
  • Oversee a team of three, providing leadership, guidance, and development opportunities.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of market data, helping develop and improve quality control measures and validation processes.
  • Develop and maintain good management information (MI) on data quality, including proxy usage.
  • Ensure instruments are correctly set up in Risk market data systems and are aligned with their setup in Front Office systems.
  • Collaborate with Market Risk, Credit Risk and Product Control teams to understand their data requirements and ensure timely and accurate data delivery.
  • Work with Risk Managers, Risk Methodology and Model Validation specialists to identify and implement relevant data requirements (and linked controls).
  • Enhance data governance policies and processes and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Provide expertise in market data concepts such as interest rate curve stripping and other financial instruments.
  • Liaise with IT, Instrument Static Data and other departments to ensure the smooth operation of market data systems.
  • Translate complex business requirements into IT specifications.
  • Liaise with market data vendors such as Bloomberg to ensure the needs of internal clients are met.
  • Be able to participate in market data cost control strategies.

What you'll need to be successful

  • CFA and / or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in market data management within a financial institution, preferably in a risk management context.
  • Strong understanding of market data concepts, with specific focus on interest rates, FX, credit spreads and commodities.
  • Knowledge of market data systems and data validation exception management tools.
  • Experience with Murex is highly advantageous.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing a small team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Experience working on or with change projects
