Job summary

SMBC Group in London is seeking an External Data Compliance Specialist to join the Data Office. The role leads the development of external data compliance frameworks and oversees licensing and usage reporting across the EMEA region.

The position requires interpreting complex licensing terms, driving audits, and advising front-office, technology, procurement and legal teams to ensure cost-effective and compliant data usage.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of exchange and market-data licensing models.
• Proven experience in market-data compliance within financial services.
• Ability to interpret, assess, and communicate complex licence terms to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and ongoing oversight of the market data compliance framework across EMEA.
• Interpret and advise on exchange and vendor licensing terms for compliant data usage.
• Oversee usage, entitlement, and reporting processes to ensure accuracy and contractual alignment.
• Support transformation initiatives to maintain compliant data usage during change.
• Advise teams on external data usage, entitlements, and best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement in controls, reporting and governance.
