Market Data Business Services Manager

The Market Data Services team is a specialist data content and commercial management function which provides industry‑leading guidance and support for the acquisition, provisioning and governance of financial data to all areas of the firm globally. Our mandate is to ensure we operate best practice standards in the maintenance and supply of Market Data. With a diverse user‑base comes immensely varied requirements for data and we support these needs by utilising the subject matter expertise and financial knowledge that our team is expected to demonstrate.

What you'll do

The Market Data Business Services Manager reports into the Global Head of Market Data. The role requires a good knowledge of Market Data operations with specific relevance to activities within an investment management company. Business Services oversee all invoice and inventory management activities in coordination with Commercial Management. There is a requirement for interaction with several internal groups to educate and manage operating behaviours. Our function's ability to deliver long term value depends on being successful at providing industry best practice and cross‑functional collaboration with other Market Data teams.

Key workflows for this function within Market Data include:

  • Facilitation of BAU requests
  • Entitlements and user permissioning
  • Invoice management
  • Inventory management
  • Query resolution (invoices, permissions) Vendor reporting and declarations
  • Monthly processes - month‑end checks, inventory preparation, due diligence
  • Budget and forecast preparation and reporting
Key Responsilbilities
  • Preparation of budget and forecast reports for Market Data account line
  • Assist in the management of market data and commission‑based research services globally
  • Assist in the BAU process of ordering data, including the process for indices
  • Manage administrative tasks including, invoice processing and daily/monthly processes
  • Vendor liaison to ensure service permissioning and de‑permissioning is administered appropriately
  • Invoice management (reconciliation, purchase orders and approvals)
  • Service enablements
  • Inventory updates & housekeeping, including currency updates, HR and corporate structure • Building of reporting templates from inventory
  • Service/vendor uploads into inventory system
  • Engagement with Finance and user‑base around costs, recharge and service availability
  • Engagement with HR around headcount moves & cost centre updates
  • TechLink (ServiceNow) requests for additional services
  • Responsibility and oversight for Business Services team members in EMEA (+2), APAC (+1)
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
  • A proven track record in Market Data administration
  • Good knowledge of Investment Management - what we do as a firm/how we make money
  • Experience of working with vendors including, Bloomberg, Factset, Refinitiv
  • Experience of market data inventory systems, specifically Optimize (from The Roberts Group)
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills
  • Ability to drive query resolution with billing functions at our providers
  • Attention to detail and a flexible attitude
  • Able to work to tight deadlines, particularly in relation to diarised processes
  • Strong MS-Office to include Excel
