Job summary

STARK is seeking a Systems Engineer to lead system‑level integration for next‑generation Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV). You will define architecture and interfaces, manage integration and verification, and drive system validation through sea trials and acceptance testing.

You will work with mechanical, electrical, control hardware, software and test teams across the full lifecycle, produce ICDs, lead V&V activities, and travel to test ranges within the UK/Europe as required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Systems, Maritime, Aerospace, Electrical or related engineering field.
• Significant experience with autonomous systems platforms and system integration.
• Proven ability to design and integrate complex subsystems (power, RF/EMC, sensors, networking).
• Experience applying V-Model in engineering projects and waves of testing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organized and detail‑oriented.
• Willingness to travel in UK/Europe for testing and integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead system integration for USV product development and upgrades, ensuring platform coherence.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, control hardware, software and test teams across lifecycle.
• Conceptualise and capture system architecture, producing trade studies and performance assessments.
• Design communications pathways, distribution and redundancy strategies at system level.
• Create layout and ICDs, enforce interface control across subsystems.
• Lead Verification & Validation and acceptance activities; write test plans and procedures.
• Support bench builds, hardware integration and hands‑on vessel testing (VLOS/BVLOS).
• Coordinate payload interfaces with suppliers/customers to ensure on‑time delivery.
• Analyze test telemetry, identify trends and contribute to reliability improvements.
