The team and wider maritime business are growing significantly, and you will be a key member of the team. The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced and dynamic Associate Director to lead our technical specialism in planning and design of green energy marine terminals, sea crossings and offshore wind ports in the London maritime team. This role is pivotal in project delivery, developing our skills / people, and maintaining technical excellence. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in successful delivery of all project stages, especially in feasibility studies and concept design. In addition to a focus on technical, the successful candidate will have an excellent knowledge of the ports and maritime industry and be considered an expert in their specialist field.
Key Responsibilities:- Industry Insight: Conduct research to identify trends, opportunities, and innovation in the industry. Provide insights to inform business and skills/people development strategies.
- Skills / People Development: Mentor and guide a team of technical professionals. Foster a culture of sharing, collaboration and excellence.
- Skills Leadership: Lead the maritime network on a wide variety of projects, mentoring other maritime practitioners, and designing and leading programmes to onboard and upskill individuals from other disciplines into the maritime practice as we grow from an incubator business. Act as global or regional Maritime Skills Network Manager or Leader.
- Networking: Represent Arup at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities. Enhance the company's visibility and reputation in the ports and maritime sector.
- Business Development: From their industry insight, identify and highlight to team/business leaders, new business opportunities in the ports, maritime and energy sectors.
- External Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners within their area of expertise.
- Work Winning Support: Lead the maritime input for preparation and submission of proposals and bids.
Qualifications:- Bachelor or Masters degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field. Chartered Engineer with an internationally recognised professional institution.
- Extensive experience in the ports and maritime sector, with a focus on technical input to projects in this sector.
- Strong understanding of the UK and international market.
- Proven track record of leading feasibility studies, technical advice and designs on high-value ports and maritime projects.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Leadership experience with the ability to inspire, motivate, teach and mentor teams.
- A recognised expert in their specialist field (including navigation and/or vessel impact).
