Job summary

ComXps is seeking a seasoned marine engineer for a 6-month contract in Portchester, onsite. The role requires STCW III/2 or III/3, Chief Engineer or equivalent, and strong knowledge of SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, Class/Flag/IMO. Project management experience essential.

You will lead engineering tasks and coordinate with stakeholders. Candidates should have experience on maritime vessels, be able to manage procurement and engineering teams, and demonstrate problem-solving, planning and communication

Qualifications

• Marine engineering experience and knowledge.

Job description

This role is Inside IR35.

Clearance: CTC

Contract Length: 6 months

Location: Portchester - onsite for 5 days per week, potential to go to shipyard/boatyard with expenses paid for travel and overnight stays

MUST HAVE

• MARINE ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
• PROJECT MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE
• STCW certificate of competency STCW III/2 or STCW III/3.
• CHIEF ENGINEER OR EQUIVALENT, MARINE ENGINEER
• Knowledge of working in an engineering capacity, with or on maritime vessels (ideally different vessels)
• Strong experience and working knowledge of Class, Flag, IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, the ISM Code and ISO requirements

The post holder should hold:

• Ships Superintendency experience
• ISM Audit experience
• Shipboard Safety Officer or ISOH Managing Safely course.
• STCW III/2 or STCW III/3.

What skills are needed?

• Maritime engineering skills obtained in either an operational or shore side role, Demonstrable previous experience of Maritime engineering, diagnosing and resolving issues across a range of vessels either within Border Security Command Maritime or the private sector.
• Flexible, adaptive and creative in solving problems.
• Effectively organise and plan
• Sound interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A proactive, analytical mindset with the confidence to make decisions, manage risk, and drive improvements in complex and fast paced settings
