Job summary

UFORCE, a defence-technology company, is seeking a Head of Maritime Engineering to lead and scale the UK maritime capability. This hands-on leadership role oversees technical delivery, integration and readiness of maritime platforms, bringing together engineering teams, suppliers and partners to address complex challenges.

The role requires Chartered Engineer credentials and proven leadership across marine systems, with responsibility for delivering programmes from requirements to deployment.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional credentials.
  • Experience with Workboat Code Edition 3 or similar frameworks, including vessel certification and assurance.
  • Engineering leadership across marine vessels, naval systems or maritime autonomy.
  • Experience integrating autonomy, sensors, communications or mission systems onto maritime platforms.
  • Strong understanding of vessel systems, integration, test and safe operation.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in shipyards or naval facilities.
  • Experience delivering complex programmes from requirements to deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and scale UK maritime engineering capability with a high-performing multidisciplinary team.
  • Own engineering delivery, technical integrity and operational readiness of maritime platforms.
  • Lead integration of vessel, mechanical, electrical, autonomy, communications and mission systems.
  • Establish standards across design, integration, test, maintenance and assurance.
  • Translate programme and customer needs into clear priorities and executable plans.
  • Collaborate with programme, product, suppliers and customers to solve challenges quickly.
  • Shape long-term maritime engineering strategy as the company scales.
