Job summary

A leading marine insurance firm based in the City of London is seeking a Marine Technician. Responsibilities include producing documentation according to client requirements, handling inquiries, and maintaining records. The ideal candidate will have a developing knowledge of marine insurance and FCA regulations, along with strong communication skills. This role requires attendance in the office for at least 2 days a week.

Marine Technician

Responsibilities
  • Production of brokers documentation in accordance with client requirements and broker instruction, under the supervision of the Senior Technician and Broker Support Manager
  • Production of client documentation in accordance with terms agreed with the Underwriter under the supervision of the Senior Technician and Broker Support Manager;
  • To handle client enquiries by telephone, correspondence or email in a timely fashion;
  • Maintain proper files and records;
  • To obtain a good working knowledge of the companies computer systems;
  • To take responsibility for the day to day management of work loads and the meeting deadlines
  • To comply at all times with the company’s policies and procedures;
  • To understand and implement market initiatives;
  • To provide assistance to other departments when necessary (e.g. Accounts and Claims).
  • In addition, the jobholder may be required to perform other duties assigned by the Broking Support Manager, as required by the needs of the business.
Knowledge and Experience Required
  • Developing knowledge of marine insurance and the London and overseas markets.
  • An understanding of FCA regulations and guidelines, as applied to the type of client being dealt with.
Skills and Competencies Required
  • Basic knowledge of Marine insurance and the London markets.
  • An understanding of FCA regulations and guidelines, as appropriate.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) that are effective and meet business needs.
  • Ability to continually develop knowledge of company procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
