Job description

Advert Close date: 17th April 2025

Purpose of Role:
Sustainability Managers play a pivotal role in driving sustainable practices and positive environmental and social impacts within Marine and as part of the wider TCE sustainability community. This role is tasked with integrating our sustainability commitments into the heart of business activities, providing expert advice and challenge on best practice. This includes supporting Marine with the implementation of the Value Creation Framework. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing evidence-based strategies, tools and assessment frameworks to help understand and improve the socio-economic and broader social impacts associated with our marine sectors. This will include incorporating socio-economic data to guide spatial planning and decision-making processes related to leasing and investment activities, and working with sector leads and enterprise sustainability professionals to introduce new requirements and standards into leasing processes and seabed agreements to improve social outcomes and address skills gaps. In addition, this role will be responsible for advancing our understanding and quantification of the long-term impacts and opportunities of marine activities on communities through research and stakeholder engagement.

By providing training, evidence, and tools to sector leads, the Marine Sustainability Manager will empower them to enhance the sustainability impact of their respective sectors, contributing to a more environmentally responsible and socially beneficial marine industry.

Knowledge, skills & experience:
  • Proficiency in stakeholder engagement and management, both internally and externally, with a proven ability to lead and influence sustainability initiatives
  • Strong understanding of progressive practices and policies in social impact, ideally with experience of applying these in a coastal or marine context
  • Expertise in strategy development, value identification, and assessment, with the ability to drive sustainability considerations within decision-making processes
  • Ability to manage competing projects; make timely decisions, spot risk, develop solutions and facilitate mitigating actions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify the complex
  • Flexible and resilient, able to work in ambiguous situations to deliver on time and under pressure
Our Offering / benefits:

As well as a competitive salary, pension and performance related bonus offering, we have a wealth of benefits available ranging from flexible working; market leading family policies and shopping discounts in the West End, to private healthcare; life and critical illness cover and 28 days holiday with the option to buy more. We value work-life balance and your wellbeing highly, enabling you to be your best self to work.
