The role

As a Marine Surveyor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Your role will include developing detailed knowledge and specialised technical expertise to support marine vessels and structures, including working to ensure compliance with international naval regulation.

Day-to-day, you’ll conduct structural survey audits to ensure they have been completed in accordance with Defence Standards, supporting the Principle Professional Officer/Professional Officer to ensure the requirements are met for each platform.

  • Conduct structural surveys, accept/reject results and produce reports in accordance with applicable procedures. Including auditing completed surveys. Includes the production of Production Technical Instructions and Procedures.
  • Assist the Principal Naval Architect with the Result of Survey closure to ensure it complies with Defence Standard and the platform specific survey requirements.
  • Ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Company’s cost, time, and quality requirements.
  • Implementation of the Company Safety, Quality and Environmental policies in the Marine Survey area of the business ensuring that assessments of risk are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices.

This role is full time OR part time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Marine Surveyor

  • Relevant standards, systems, and Classification frameworks e.g. Defence Standards, British Standards, Classification Society Rules, and Regulatory body requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Nuclear Submarines such that the importance of structure, systems and operation are understood.
  • Knowledge of Hull Survey Requirement surveys are advantageous.

Qualifications for the Marine Surveyor

  • HNC in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent
