How you'll make an impact

Responsibilities to include:

  • Handling subrogation recovery claims for marine, air, inland transport and warehousing cargo risks from first notification through to final settlement.
  • Undertaking evidence collection, liability assessment and conducting claims settlement negotiations against 3rd parties within authority.
  • Reporting to clients regarding recovery potential and advising on claim status throughout. Recommending settlement and/or seeking approval to accept settlement offers.
  • Supporting the Cargo Claims department with respect to recovery documentation, protecting recovery rights, and keeping clients informed regarding subrogation potential.

The successful candidate should have a good knowledge and understanding of subrogation claims including relevant international conventions/statutes including but not limited to US COGSA, Hague / Hague-Visby Rules, Montreal Convention and Carmack Amendment.


About You

Required: High school diploma and 5 years related claims experience required. Appropriately licensed and/or certified in all states in which claims are being handled or able to obtain the licenses/certification per local requirements. Extensive knowledge of accepted industry standards and practices. Computer experience with related claims and business software.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree preferred.

Behaviors: Ability to think critically, solve problems, plan and organize activities, serve clients, negotiate, effectively communicate verbally and in writing and embrace new challenges. Analytical skill necessary to make decisions and resolve complex issues inherent in handling losses. Ability to successfully negotiate the settlement and disposition of serious claims including the ability to interpret related documentation.
