Overview

Tradesmen International is looking to expand our team of qualified Marine Trade Professionals for current & future projects in and around Newport News, VA. Most positions are first shift with a pay range of $24-38/hour based on experience plus Per Diem to qualified Travelers 60+ miles from the job site. If you are a Marine Shipfitters and want to work alongside other proven Craftsmen who emphasize safety, productivity and superior workmanship, this is your chance to advance your career!

Job Scope:

  • Layout and Fabricate Metal Structural Parts, such as Plates, Bulkheads, and Frames, and Braces them into Position within Hull of Ship for Riveting or Welding
  • Lays out Position of Parts on Metal
  • Using Scribe and Hand Tools
  • Locate and Mark Reference, such as Center, Buttock and Frame Lines
  • Position Parts in Hull of Ship, assisted by Rigger
  • Aligns Parts in Relation to each other, using Jacks, Turnbuckles, Clips, Wedges, and Mauls
  • Marks Location of Holes to be Drilled and Installs Temporary Fasteners to Hold Part in Place for Welding or Riveting
  • Installs Packing and Gaskets, Liners and Structural Accessories and Members, such as Doors, Hatches, Brackets and Clips
  • Prepare Molds and Templates for Fabrication of Non-Standard Parts
  • Tack Weld Clips and Brackets in Place Prior to Permanent Welding
  • Roll, Bend, Flange, Cute and Shape Plates, Beams, and other Heavy Metal Parts, using Shop Machinery, such as Plate Rolls, Presses, Bending Brakes and Joggle Machines

Requirements:

    • Able to Read Blueprints or Templates
    • Tools for the Trade
    • Proper PPE
    • OSHA 10 is
