Job summary

Babcock in Plymouth, Devon, is seeking an Operation Support Engineer to coordinate maintenance and refit of Royal Navy warships. This full-time, on-site role offers exposure to complex marine engineering and national security projects.

You will create management tasks, risk assessments, liaise with contractors and stakeholders, and support subcontractors on-site to ensure safe, timely delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience using Microsoft Office for documentation and coordination.
• Knowledge of health and safety principles in engineering contexts.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and contractors.
• Experience in marine, shipbuilding, ship repair or defence is advantageous.
• Experience with scaffolding, painting, slinging or itinerant trades is beneficial.
• Must meet physical requirements; duties may involve work onboard ships.

Responsibilities

• Create management tasks, work packages and control documentation to support maintenance activities.
• Write risk assessments, method statements and other safety-related documentation.
• Liaise with contractors, customers and stakeholders to coordinate project activities.
• Support the oversight and coordination of specialist subcontractors on-site.
• Manage scaffold requests and ensure work requirements are processed within project timescales.
