The Company currently writes lines of business including; specialty insurance: aviation & aerospace, energy, marine, property, terror & political violence, contingency and other specialty lines; reinsurance: property reinsurance, property retrocession, specialty reinsurance, whole account/multi-class and bespoke.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Deputy Head of Marine, the primary purpose of the role is to assist in originating, modelling, administering and underwriting a portfolio of (re)insurance business. This includes analysing and maintaining the accuracy of all (re)insurance submission data, policies, and records with the ultimate goal of ensuring that Fidelis’ interests are properly managed and protected.

Role Responsibilities

  • Participate in the underwriting process, evaluate and present submissions, analyse and interpret exposures, determine coverage and contract terms.
  • Assist with risk modelling and pricing tools.
  • Originate, leverage, build, and maintain broker and client relationships.
  • Monitor market developments and stay current on relevant classes of business, legislative and regulatory changes.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of underwriting data in systems.
  • Prepare and issue quotes accurately and promptly.
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members.
  • Ensure compliance with underwriting regulations, liaising with brokers, clients, auditors, and regulators as needed.
  • Assist with strategic initiatives to promote business growth.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Mathematics preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in broking or underwriting in relevant lines of business.
  • Established networks and strong relationships with brokers and clients; able to manage meetings independently.
  • Proficient understanding of the international underwriting marketplace.
  • Excellent analytical skills, able to interpret pricing models and perform analyses.
  • Proven negotiation skills with ability to attract and retain clients.
