ERIAS is a strategic environmental and social impact assessment consultancy who specialises in project approvals within the renewable energy, resources, and infrastructure sectors. Our projects are often located in remote and complex environments across Asia-Pacific, ranging from coastal settings to the deep sea where water depths exceed 5,000 m. These projects require individuals who can work collegiately as a team to develop innovative solutions to new problems.

Our projects are becoming more complex and exciting – our clients are looking to develop new technologies that support the global energy transition. Due to business growth, we are looking for a marine scientist with up to 3 years’ experience.

We are open to where they are located (we have offices in Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth ).

The successful applicant will be responsible for :

  • Assisting in the planning of scientific fieldwork and implementation, including travel around Australia and internationally.
  • Coordinating specialist subconsultants.
  • Conducting desktop research and literature reviews on marine-related topics.
  • Researching, collecting, collating and analysing baseline data.
  • Liaising and maintaining client relationships, subconsultants, government agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Authoring technical reports, environmental and social impact assessments and management plans.
  • Project management of components of projects to ensure delivery on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate will have up to 3 years’ experience in marine sciences having undertaken field investigations, desktop scientific research and marine studies reporting. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on challenging projects with significant opportunity for professional and technical development in parallel with the company’s growth.

To be successful in this role, you will have :

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Marine Biology, Marine Science, Marine Ecology, or a related field.
  • Strong academic background in biology, ecology, oceanography, or environmental science.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to travel within Australia and overseas.
  • Experience with field work, preferably including vessel-based surveys.
  • Data handling, analysis and reporting experience.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude and project management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills, self-motivation, and self-direction.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A strong commitment to working safely.
