South Hampshire College Group seeks a proactive Marine Engineering Technician to support high-quality programmes in Southampton. You will maintain workshops, engines and equipment, prepare practical sessions and assist staff and students in practical activities, ensuring safety and compliance.

Ideal candidates have marine/mechanical eng experience, knowledge of marine engines and workshop gear, and strong organisational and communication skills to contribute to a positive learning environment.

Formación

• Experience in marine engineering or maritime environments.
• Knowledge of marine engines, propulsion systems and workshop equipment.
• Understanding health and safety requirements in engineering or marine settings.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Experience in stock control and workshop management.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
• First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake training.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare and set up tools, equipment, engines and learning resources for practical sessions.
• Maintain Marine Engineering workshops, stores and training areas to a high standard.
• Carry out routine maintenance and safety checks on marine engines, training rigs, workshop machinery and associated equipment.
• Manage stock levels of engineering materials, consumables and spare parts.
• Maintain inventories and records of equipment and resources.
• Support lecturers and students during practical activities and assessments.
• Deliver workshop inductions and promote safe working practices.
• Assist with the maintenance and preparation of training vessels and specialist marine equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, maritime standards and College procedures.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive and professional learning environment.
