CalMac Ferries is seeking a marine engineer to define technical specifications for vessel equipment and future fleet projects. The role acts as the technical authority on supplier requirements, contributing to procurement, supplier evaluations and contract renewals.

The ideal candidate will have a marine engineering qualification, experience in writing specifications, and strong analytical and stakeholder management skills to drive safety, quality and value across the marine supply chain.

Qualifications

• Marine engineering qualification is required and represents the core technical baseline.
• Experience developing technical specifications or supporting engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of technical and engineering specifications for vessel equipment, services, upgrades and future fleet projects
• Act as technical subject matter expert, ensuring supplier requirements are clearly defined and aligned with business needs
• Support procurement and contract activity with technical documentation and supplier evaluations
• Work with internal stakeholders to identify current and future marine engineering requirements
• Provide technical insight on supplier performance, contract renewals and supply chain strategy
• Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality and value across the marine supply chain
