Position: Marine Design Engineer

This role plays a crucial part in the Marine industry, ensuring all products and processes meet the highest quality standards. We seek a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities include:

  1. 3D modelling, conceptual design to Modelling, 2D modelling, Design to manufacturing, material selection.
  2. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to carry out design activities.

Work Experience
  • Minimum of 5-10 years in structural analysis, with significant exposure to marine equipment or structures.
Responsibilities
  • Produce design documentation and assessments, acting as lead author where appropriate.
  • Develop and deliver designs according to the design process and relevant legislation.
  • Advise on the implementation and maintenance of design documentation and compliance with codes and standards.
  • Carry out detailed design activities to meet manufacturing requirements.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software, ideally Solid Edge.
  • Ability to interpret and create high-quality engineering CAD models and drawings, including GD&T.
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles related to pressure/pipework systems.
  • Knowledge of the design lifecycle.
  • Experience designing mechanical components, parts, assemblies, and subassemblies in the Marine Industry.
  • Familiarity with subsystems affecting mechanical design/layout.
  • Experience with structural design practices and methodologies, including redesigns.
Requirements
  • Degree in structural engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in a similar role within the Marine industry.
  • Knowledge of Marine engineering, structural design, materials, etc.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and industry standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
Certifications
  • Progress towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is desirable.
