Marine Engineer – Submarine Technical Leadership Specialist

To £85,000k per annum /Somerset, UK (Flexible and hybrid working available)

REED Secure have partnered with global leader in marine engineering, where we tackle the most crucial engineering challenges. We are currently seeking a Marine Engineer with a specialisation in submarine technical leadership to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex projects involving ships and submarines, providing a challenging yet rewarding environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead teams of engineers in the submarine domain, acting in a technical assurance capacity.
  • Support the development of opportunities and capabilities within the UK and internationally.
  • Get involved in solving engineering challenges through leading the development and delivery of Marine Engineering aspects of our projects.
  • Projects range from supporting customers in delivering complex in-service changes, conducting feasibility studies, and performing technical and design engineering investigations and analyses.
  • Contribute to the delivery of projects across our wider portfolio and consulting projects in other market areas.
  • Drive and support research and development activities, enhancing global understanding of submarine issues and developing future submarine design concepts.
  • Work with wider business functions to develop opportunities and foster customer relationships.
  • Travel to other BMT offices and customer sites as necessary, with occasional overseas travel.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Registered as a Chartered Engineer with an appropriate professional body.
  • Extensive experience in the submarine domain, preferably having served as a submariner in the UK Royal Navy.
  • Highly technically competent with submarine Nuclear Propulsion and Mechanical systems.
  • Familiar with UK MoD submarine business practices and customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and act with integrity at all levels of the business and with customers.
  • Experience across the entire platform lifecycle, from concept development through to in-service support and disposal, is desirable.
