Job summary

RNLI is seeking a proactive Engineer with a solid foundation in marine engineering and hands-on experience in marine electronics. The role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading marine systems, especially electronic subsystems, across the lifecycles of our vessels and platforms.

The successful candidate will diagnose faults, integrate new electronic systems, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver effective solutions.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Marine Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with marine electronic subsystems (navigation, communication, control).
  • Familiarity with fault-finding tools for electrical/electronic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrade of marine systems, focusing on electronic and electrical subsystems.
  • Conduct diagnostics and root cause analysis of electronic and control system faults.
  • Support integration of new electronic systems into existing marine platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver engineering solutions.
  • Prepare technical documentation, test procedures, reports and modification proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and standards.
  • Engage with coastal teams, surveyors, suppliers, OEMs and stakeholders to resolve issues.
