A recruitment consultancy specializing in engineering appointments is seeking a Marine Electronics Engineer. The role involves supporting projects in-house and working on naval units for repairs and installations. Applicants should have some experience in the marine sector with electronics and be comfortable with fieldwork. The position offers a salary between £40,000 and £50,000, with earning potential of around £70,000 including overtime.
Marine Electronics Engineer
The position offers a mix of project-based activities within the office, while supporting field installations, services, and repairs on naval units. Flexibility to travel occasionally is required. The business has a very strong order book and is a well-established player within its sector. We are recruiting for an Electronics Engineer position within an established SME that provides a range of navigation and communication systems to naval units.
Due to continued growth, the business is looking for an experienced Engineer who can offer flexibility between projects-based activities while working in the office and supporting hands-on repairs, services and installations from time to time. The role blends field duties with office-based work. Some field work is overseas, so there is an element of international travel.
£40,000 to £50,000 basic, depending on experience. Overtime is readily available at x1.5 rate or as time in lieu. All expenses are covered when working away from the office. Earning potential with OT/add-ons is around £70,000.
Ideally some experience in the Marine Sector with electronics used on naval units (e.g., navigation systems, CCTV, Radar).Experience across all areas is not required as wider development can be offered where needed.
Comfortable working in the field/on naval units. This is a hands-on role with office/project duties as well.
Experience or interest in AutoCAD or similar packages would be useful.
Some form of electronics qualification; an engineer keen to develop within a specialist sector with transferable skills.
Excellent working culture with a team that has demonstrated long tenure.
Stock of variety and diversity offering further development; support a range of projects and travel to various sites to support products.
Flexible start/finish times – a standard 35-hour week with flexible overtime (either paid at x1.5 hourly rate or as x1.5 days in lieu).
Very secure and stable business with recent large project wins and ongoing growth.
Supporting projects in house using AutoCAD for system designs and writing test schedules.
Working on naval units to support repair/installation/servicing of core electronic products (e.g., radar systems, navigation, controls, etc.).
Occasionally working overseas – flexibility to travel and stay away is required.
This job is commutable from Southampton, Bournemouth, Salisbury, Portsmouth, Hampshire.
