How you will create an impact

The Marine Claims team manage syndicate and overseas offices claims concerning the following Direct, Facultative Reinsurance and XOL classes:

  • Hull
  • Cargo/Fine Art & Specie
  • Upstream Energy
  • Marine and Energy Liability
  • Marine War
  • Political Risk
  • Product Recall
  • Marine Treaty

Role responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, mentor, coach and develop the Marine claims adjusters
  • Responsible for the efficient day to day operation and management of the Marine claims team
  • Efficient, accurate and effective management of claims and data in line with the department guidelines, authorities and KPIs
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining adequate and accurate reserves
  • Champion customer outcomes
  • Supervise and monitor organisations where Talbot has delegated claims authority
  • Instruction of legal representatives and/or loss adjusters, surveyors, etc.
  • Notify and report claim notifications to underwriters and senior management
  • Report on claim issues and items of interest at claims and underwriting meetings
  • Represent Talbot at market meetings
  • Represent Talbot on market sector groups
  • Attend mediations and depositions as required
  • Notify the reinsurance claims department of potentially recoverable losses and provide full details where required
  • Lead the development of internal and external relationships to enable the Claims function to support the needs of underwriters, brokers and clients
  • Oversight over the actuarial procedures for the Marine classes
  • Ensure compliance with controls and regulatory requirements

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong Lloyd's / London Market claims experience
  • Recognised Market leader in the Marine and Energy classes, with experience of Political Risk an advantage
  • Extensive knowledge and strong technical claims experience with a proven track record of resolving large and complex specialist claims
  • Implementation and management of continual improvement within the claims environment
  • ACII or similar qualification.
  • The ability to lead, inspire and motivate a highly skilled team
  • Provide quality data and management reports
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Effective communication skills
