About the Role

Reporting to the Entertainment Technical Manager, the Entertainment Technician will support the Entertainment Technical team in delivering the technical needs of the entertainment programme on board to the highest industry standards. The department is directed and coordinated by the Cruise Director.

As a member of the Entertainment Technical team, you will set up live bands, musicians and technical equipment around the ship’s venues. Depending on the vessel, you may operate sound and lighting gear in a single venue or ship‑wide across multiple venues and lounges. You will assist with the production shows in the main theatre, including backstage work, building and striking stage scenery, and, on certain vessels, operating Follow Spot for production shows.

You will also hold responsibility for emergency procedures, guest mustering and drills, with training received both prior to joining and regularly on board. You represent RWS Global and Marella Cruises, acting safely, responsibly and professionally at all times.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver the technical requirements of entertainment products to an exceptionally high standard.
  • Set up sound and lighting systems as directed, coordinating with other team members to ensure a seamless production of events on board.
  • Set up and maintain stage scenery, equipment and props for all performances as directed.
  • Create and enhance the guest experience on board, ensuring all events are delivered at the highest technical standard possible.
  • Ensure events in the ship’s venues start on time and all technical requirements from musicians, performers and entertainment hosts are met.
  • Follow the Entertainment Technical Manager’s instructions and work schedules, ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with all current safety and company regulations.
  • Complete accurate maintenance and equipment records and comply with the cleaning and maintenance schedule for the department.
  • Assist with the technical maintenance, repair and upkeep of all equipment onboard as directed by the Entertainment Technical Manager.

Knowledge of health & safety procedures within the production environment is required.

Other Requirements

  • Must hold a valid Seamans Book/ID card or have completed an application for this.
  • Must hold a full, valid passport, with at least 9 months validity at time of joining.
