Job summary

Gap Personnel is recruiting for a Manufacturing Technician role based in Irlam, M44. The job focuses on operating and maintaining filling line machinery to keep production running safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards.

You will work a 4 on 4 off 12-hour shift pattern (days 06:00–18:00 or nights 18:00–06:00) on a permanent contract, with salary in the £32k–£35k range. Training and development are supported, including an NVQ Level 2 Diploma.

Qualifications

  • Experience in FMCG manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with bottling or liquid filling is advantageous.
  • Solid understanding of health, safety, hygiene and quality standards.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort with production machinery.
  • Good numerical and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor filling line machinery to ensure efficient production.
  • Carry out line changeovers and support production schedules.
  • Identify and resolve minor machine faults; escalate when required.
  • Complete quality checks and maintain accurate production records.
  • Ensure correct raw materials are used and maintain hygiene standards.
  • Work with Shift Managers, Coordinators and Engineering to maximise line performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Train and support colleagues; provide cover for the Line Coordinator as needed.
  • Own your training and development, including NVQ Level 2 Diploma training.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for Manufacturing Technicians for our Client based in Irlam, M44.

As a Manufacturing Technician, you'll play a key role in ensuring our production lines operate safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while helping us achieve our production targets.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Operating and monitoring filling line machinery to ensure efficient production.
  • Carrying out line changeovers and supporting production schedules.
  • Identifying and resolving minor machine faults, escalating issues to the Engineering team when required.
  • Completing quality checks and maintaining accurate production records.
  • Ensuring the correct raw materials are used throughout production.
  • Maintaining excellent hygiene, housekeeping, and food safety standards.
  • Working closely with Shift Managers, Coordinators, and Engineering to maximise line performance.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Monitoring production performance and reporting any issues affecting key performance indicators.
  • Training and supporting colleagues when required.
  • Providing cover for the Line Coordinator when needed.
  • Taking ownership of your own training and development, including completing an NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Performing Manufacturing Operations.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Experience within bottling, liquid filling, food, drink, or pharmaceutical manufacturing is advantageous.
  • A good understanding of health, safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and confidence working with production machinery.
  • Good numerical and written communication skills.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude towards learning and development.

Experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Lean Manufacturing principles would be beneficial but is not essential.
