Manufacturing Technician - Mechanical (R0262170)

Location: Glasgow

Role: Full Time

Hours: 4-day week, Monday-Thursday / 37 hours per week

The Role

We are seeking experienced Technicians to join our Optronics and Missile Electronics (OME) department in Glasgow. You will work closely with team members, Work Cell Managers, and Manufacturing Engineers to deliver outputs according to business needs. With experience in mechanical assemblies, you’ll perform manufacturing tasks following engineering drawings to meet quality standards.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  1. Perform complex manufacturing operations as per documentation efficiently and professionally.
  2. Assemble products to high quality standards, including mechanical and optical components, with attention to ESD-sensitive components.
  3. Align opto-mechanical systems and conduct functional testing as per production documentation and acceptance test specifications.
  4. Self-assess products for quality.
  5. Follow company processes in all tasks.
  6. Escalate technical issues to Manufacturing Engineers.
  7. Log and escalate quality non-conformances.
  8. Contribute to diagnostics and root cause analysis when possible.
  9. Support continuous improvement initiatives.
  10. Use company tools (ERP/Oracle, Palma, etc.) for assembly and testing.
  11. Manage and record build configurations.
  12. Escalate health and safety issues appropriately.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Experience in building mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and diagrams.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Follow processes and instructions accurately.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Basic PC skills.
  • Eligibility for full SC clearance.
