Manufacturing Technician at Merrimack Manufacturing
Merrimack Manufacturing has an exciting opportunity for a reliable and versatile Manufacturing Technician with excellent attention to detail to assemble medical devices. Applicants must be self-sufficient in assembly, testing, and documentation of mechanical and electrical assemblies.
Responsibilities:
- Assemble plastic and metal components into medical devices in accordance with approved manufacturing procedures.
- Utilize small hand tools (manual and electric), manual presses, assembly fixtures, calibrated instruments, measurement equipment, microscopes, and test fixtures.
- Use documentation such as Bill of Materials, product flow charts, work orders, check sheets, visual aids, production reports, and assembly drawings to assemble products and record results.
- Perform soldering, fabricating, crimping, mechanical assembly, sealing, ultrasonic welding, bonding, and gluing with adhesives, epoxy, or RTV.
- Kitting assemblies using parts lists, scanners, and inventory software as required.
- Participate in routine start-up or end-of-day equipment inspections or verifications.
- Inspect work throughout the assembly process and communicate quality or operational issues to the appropriate leader.
- Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean work area to ensure efficiency and safety. Participate in safety programs, meetings, and trainings. Report safety concerns to management.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities as part of a cross-functional team.
- Meet all quality, quantity, and good manufacturing practices to satisfy customer and regulatory requirements. Read and understand operating procedures for specific products after training.
- Maintain constant attention to detail and immediately inform supervisors of any issues or deviations from approved processes.
- Collaborate with engineers and line leads to resolve issues and improve procedures for quality and efficiency.
- Maintain Clean Room integrity by using proper attire and adhering to Clean Room practices and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records/documentation related to quality, work in progress, test results, labor, and projects.
- Adhere to safety rules, manufacturing procedures, company policies, ISO, QSR, and FDA regulations.
- Perform other production-related duties as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with assembly, testing, and documentation of mechanical and electrical devices.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Willingness to undertake various tasks and adapt to unexpected situations.
- Experience in medical device manufacturing.
- Knowledge of medical device regulatory procedures, lean manufacturing, and manufacturing processes.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work under a microscope and assemble small parts.
- Proficiency with tweezers, torque drivers, magnifiers, and microscopes.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Comfortable using computers.
- Ability to remain stationary for 50% of the time.
