Our client is a global, leading precision component manufacturer primarily operating in the Aerospace sector. They manufacture precision engineered parts for aerospace customers (mainly precision fabrication and machining) and are looking for a Manufacturing Team Leader to join their growing team.

You will be responsible for supporting the Manufacturing Manager through day-to-day supervision of Sheetmetal workers.

Permanent: Up to £42,000 + Shift Allowance. Late Shift: Monday 15:00-01:00, Tuesday-Thursday 15:00-12:30, located in Derby.

Job Description

Support the Manufacturing Manager by sharing agreed objectives on EHS, Quality, Cost, and Delivery, and participating in the Operational Control model. Participate in the Daily Operations meeting, taking ownership of problems assigned to the TL function for resolution.

Understand the process constraints and operating rules of the value stream covered in the TL role, and participate in problem-solving exercises to improve flow where relevant. Manage throughput of work in priority order to deliver our OTIF target.

Ensure planned times are accurate, and team members are completing work within the time allocated. Maintain an efficient system to control the maintenance and storage/replenishment of tooling. Carry out sheet metalwork operations to produce conforming parts.

Provide input, including method and cycle times, for new quotations when required. Lead/support the development of efficient methods of manufacture and tooling for NPDI and existing work. Lead the weekly Gemba meeting, ensuring communication of relevant SQCDP metrics.

Apply problem-solving methodologies to define and solve problems at root cause as a method of improving operational performance, particularly on process capability and quality problems.

Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications
  • Previous experience of working in a highly regulated industry (Aerospace preferably).
  • Proven experience and ability to manage a team.
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication, sheet metal, etc.
  • Experienced in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
