Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Directs and coordinates activities of production department(s) in processing materials or manufacturing products in an industrial organization by performing the essential functions and responsibilities personally or through subordinate supervisors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supervises the manufacturing department and its employees.
  2. Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates.
  3. Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  4. Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  5. Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  6. Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  7. Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  8. Trains employees, addresses employee complaints, and resolves problems.
  9. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for creating a professional, safe, and clean environment.
  10. Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by establishing effective relationships and networks with both managers/directors and workers, and collaborating with them to accomplish shared purposes and goals.
  11. Abides by GSM Code of Ethics and Business Conduct standards and strictly observes all U.S. and foreign laws and regulations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Two-year certificate from college, technical school, or military training, eight years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Working knowledge of MS Office and Windows based computer programs; ERP/MRP based company-wide sales order administrative systems.
  3. Able to measure performance to goals and standards. Able to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost, and employee relations.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; listens to others without interrupting; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others’ ideas and tries new things.
  5. Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
  6. Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
